Taking the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day 2022, Down Catalunya has launched the ‘#ObjectivesSindromeDown’ campaign by making a video in which different people of all ages with Down Syndrome make the decision to express what they think about future of the planet.

The video shows a series of people starting to prepare posters, drawings, banners, etc. containing messages they wanted to link to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed this year by the United Nations and which have as their horizon for year 2030.

This year’s campaign aims to show that people with Down syndrome have the same desires as everyone else and that they are equally or more concerned about the planet than the rest of the world. We show that their disability is neither an excuse nor a problem to demand a cleaner planet with less pollutants, equality situations for everyone or high quality education, among many other topics.

The SDGs are topics that unite us all equally and the campaign shows that, whether or not you have Down syndrome, it does not prevent you from doing anything you do not want, thus throwing a positive message that fights the stereotypes and prejudices that are still associated nowadays with intellectual disability.
