Bibliotèques de Barcelona offers four talks in which several professionals will talk, in an informative way, about the state of research in some aspects related to Down syndrome.
A team from Barcelona's CRG has started an investigation to analyze the effects of epigallocatechin gallate (substance contained in green tea) on the facial features and bones of people with Down syndrome. Their aim is to photograph and analyze the faces of 300 boys from 0 to 18 years.
Prestigious scientific journal The Lancet Neurology publishes in July the so called Green Tea study, conducted by researchers from Barcelona. This study opens a promising way to improve cognitive performance of people with DS, but lacks of new funds to continue.
A group of researchers from three universities is developing the game "La Piedra Mágica", which aims to improve communication skills (pronunciation, intonation, etc.) of people with Down syndrome, and thus facilitate their social integration.
