Bibliotèques de Barcelona offers four talks in which several professionals will talk, in an informative way, about the state of research in some aspects related to Down syndrome.
Prestigious scientific journal The Lancet Neurology publishes in July the so called Green Tea study, conducted by researchers from Barcelona. This study opens a promising way to improve cognitive performance of people with DS, but lacks of new funds to continue.
Down Catalunya and Hospital de Nens de Barcelona Foundation have signed an agreement by which the hospital will serve dental and orthodontic to minors with Down syndrome. This service will have a reduced price or virtually no cost depending on family income.
Alexis Perez will run his first marathon next March 15 in Barcelona, and he will do that together (in some stretches) with five young people with Down syndrome. He has turned a personal challenge into a charity challenge to assist programs done by Down Catalunya.
Down Catalunya organizes a lecture-discussion with Dr. Mara Dierssen entitled “The study of green tea. Where are we”. Dierssen will explain the results of research in adults and steps that are being taken to get the resources to do this same trial with pediatric population.
